Chaplain Shawn Kennedy, Ontario
Chaplain Michael Shawn Kennedy was born in Winnipeg in 1957. He currently lives in North York with his wife JoAnn, who also works in the thoroughbred racing industry. The couple has two grown children, Meaghan and Rebecca.
An all-around horseman, Chaplain Shawn has been involved with horses his entire life. For a short time, Shawn was an amateur jockey, riding in over 50 races. Later he trained horses, winning races at Assiniboia Downs, Greenwood, Thistledown and Penn National. Shawn is still hands-on with horses as he continues to gallop in the morning at Woodbine.
Working as Chaplain for Ontario Thoroughbred Racetracks since 2004, Shawn has implemented many new programs to aid the racing community.
